Senior Counsel John O. Easton has been with the firm since 1974. He joined the firm as a law clerk while in law school, became an associate attorney in 1977 upon passing the Virginia State Bar while a law student, and became a partner in 1981. Mr. Easton has been accepted to the Martindale Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. He became Senior Counsel to the firm in 2013.
John Easton has 40 years of experience defending civil litigants in the state and federal courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of West Virginia. His practice is focused in the areas of professional negligence defense, including attorneys and health professionals; architects and engineers negligence; premises liability; products liability; personal injury; and sexual assault and abuse cases. Mr. Easton has been recognized by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America since 2008 in the practice areas of Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants and Professional Malpractice Defendants, and has been selected also for inclusion in Top Attorneys in Virginia.
Mr. Easton served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps (1966-1973), including a tour in Vietnam as an infantry platoon commander and infantry company commander (1967-1968). After leaving active duty Mr. Easton continued to serve as an officer in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, retiring as a Colonel in 1994. As a colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve, and the commanding Officer of the 4th Civil Affairs Group, Mr. Easton was called up for active duty in Panama, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq.
