Senior Counsel Carol T. Stone has more than 36 years of experience litigating civil matters in the state and federal courts in Virginia, the District of Columbia and West Virginia. Carol concentrates her practice in the areas of professional negligence defense, including lawyers, medical professionals, insurance brokers and agents, real estate brokers and agents, and accountants; serious personal injury and wrongful death, including premises liability and motor vehicle accidents; employment and contract disputes; intentional torts; and FDCPA and other statutory violation claims.

Carol Stone joined the firm in 1981 as an associate attorney and became a partner in 1987.  Carol became Senior Counsel to the firm on January 1, 2018 and continues to service the firm's clients and mentor younger lawyers in that capacity.

Having successfully defended civil litigants in more than 100 jury and non-jury trials and arbitrations, numerous mediations, and hundreds of procedural and dispositive motions, Carol has been recognized by her peers for selection for The Best Lawyers in America for Legal Malpractice-Defendants and Personal Injury Litigation-Defendants since 2007, Super Lawyers, and Top Lawyers in Virginia and the District of Columbia for Legal Malpractice. She also has been accepted to the Martindale Hubbell Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers.

Carol is actively involved in the local legal community and is committed to promoting ethics in the legal profession. She served as a member of the Virginia State Bar Fifth District Committee for attorney discipline from 2002 to 2008, including terms as chair and vice-chair, and currently serves as a Conciliator for the Fairfax County Circuit Court.
